Russell Wilmott is a highly experienced Emergency & Risk Management professional with over 30 years in emergency response, workplace safety, and investigative services. During his tenure with VICSES, he played a key role in managing storm, fire, and flood responses across Victoria and chaired the Risk and Consequence Planning Group for the Gippsland Regional Emergency Management Planning Committee (REMPC), leading the development of the Gippsland Regional Emergency Plan.
An AFAC-registered Level 3 (AIIMS) Operations Officer, he has undertaken roles as Incident Controller, Planning Officer, and Logistics Officer, ensuring effective multi-agency coordination and large-scale incident management.
With hands-on expertise in workplace investigations, Russell has conducted ICAM investigations, grievance investigations, and regulatory compliance audits, ensuring fair, transparent, and procedurally sound resolutions.
As the Managing Director of Wilmott Risk and Investigations Group, he provides risk management, workplace investigations, and emergency preparedness services to businesses, government agencies, and communities.
A trusted safety consultant and trainer, he delivers high-quality emergency response and workplace safety training as a third-party provider with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO #90909.
His entrepreneurial vision and risk management expertise are further reflected in founding Australia’s first indoor rock climbing centre in 1992, demonstrating his leadership, innovation, and commitment to safety.
